Hello!
Bradt School houses
a lot of fond memories for me! I graduated from Mohonasen
a while ago. I enjoy talking with the children, meeting with
colleagues about teaching and learning, and shopping for new
school supplies. I prepare for our class throughout the summer
and think about how to make the classroom a great place for
children to learn throughout the year.
I am a National Board
Certified Teacher. This means that I have been assessed by the
National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. It is a
voluntary process which requires candidates to describe, analyze
and reflect about professional knowledge and practice.
I’ve been an educator for about 17 years. I have taught all of
the primary grades and a blended 1st and 2nd
grade class. Most recently, I have been a second grade teacher.
I believe all children learn at individual rates and deserve
respect for their unique qualities. I am clear about
expectations regarding behavior, and I will guide students to
become more independent solving problems.
As a learner, I continually
participate in technology, read, and attend professional
development classes.
This year, I am a District Mentor for
teachers beginning their careers at Mohonasen. I participate in
District committees throughout the year.
Just like you, I am a parent in this school district. I support
homework times at home for my sixth and second grade daughters
each day, too. I love having a cat. Our cat's name is Miss
Pepper. My husband and I have been remodeling our house for
about 15 years. We're almost done! Beyond the joys of family
life, I have a good time playing the tuba. I enjoy
exercising at Best Fitness and walking.
I am available for conference
appointments. I respond in writing or by phone as soon as
possible to the messages I receive. It is always best to talk to
me if there are concerns or questions about assignments or
school related situations.
In common with many students, I have allergies to foods.
Tropical fruits and peanuts are toxic to me. I also have asthma,
so strong perfumes and tobacco smoke are uncomfortable.
The education of children is a
team effort. Students are the most successful when parents and
teachers work patiently together. While academic progress is our
goal in A-5, providing a safe, happy, learning place creates
fond memories, too.
Enjoy your school year!
