Pinewood Spelling Bee goes 25 rounds; 5th-grade student crowned "champion"
Jan. 13, 2012
Twenty-six Pinewood students endured 25
rounds at the school-wide spelling bee on Jan. 13. In the end, fifth-grade student Anna Sherman
(pictured at right) won the champion round.
Each student contestant was the winner of their classroom spelling bee, held last month. The entire Pinewood student body was in attendance to cheer their classmates on. Principal Michele Whitley, who is currently out on maternity leave, surprised students when she showed up with her son to give some words of encouragement.
Anna will represent Pinewood at the Capital Region Spelling Bee at Proctor's Theater in Schenectady on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
Congratulations to all of the students who participated!
