Engineering Design & Development (EDD) Class delivers final presentation
June 6, 2011
On May 17, seniors from the Engineering Design and Development (EDD) class presented the results of their year–long design project to a panel of engineers. The presentations were given in the High School Farnsworth Technology Center to an audience that also included students, mentors, parents, and administrators. The students had to design, build, program and test a robot made from aluminum, plastics and sheet metal parts to compete in the First Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics competition.
The event included a poster session, formal presentations and a demonstration of the robot on a practice field.
In January 2011 the team attended a robotics tournament with 35 teams from NY, NJ, MA and PA. The rookie “Mohon Bots” team was ranked seventh in the qualification rounds. The robot, with the help of student drivers, programmers and mentors, performed very well during the competition.
