Pinewood school-wide spelling bee
Jan. 5, 2011
Twenty-nine Pinewood students took to the stage for a school-wide spelling bee on Wednesday, Jan. 5. Each student was the winner of their classroom spelling bee, held last month. Fifth grader Olivia Muller placed first at Wednesday's event. Fourth grade student, Kevin Gildharry, came in second.
Before the spelling bee began, the crowd enjoyed a projected slideshow of all of the particpants. See pictures from the event below.
"I studied for the bee with my mom and little sister. They would ask me the words and I would spell them. If I got one wrong, I would keep spelling it until I got it right," Olivia said. "When I won I felt excited and I almost cried because I was so happy that everyone was clapping for me."
Congratulations to all the students who competed in the school-wide bee: Kyle Reihs; David Memoli; Emily Brazee; Christina Esposito; Justin Sommerman; Julianna Huba; Thomas Millett; Dylan Smith; Emma Phillips; Lena Calkins; Tori Gage; Anna Sherman; Jacob Brock; Felip Smith; Autumn House; Kevin Gildharry; Michael Gunn; Emilio Vernon; Jovani Ducharme; Tara Beck; Sean Jenks; Hannah DeMarco; Oktavia Cemerys; Hannah O’Clair; Lindsey Wait; Olivia Muller; Bruce Phillips; Liam Smith; and Milan Pfister.
