GRADE 8 |
These sites will help with the Periodic Table
project in grade 8 science classes.
Chemical elements.com -
An online, interactive periodic table designed especially for k-12 students which provides
much information on the elements; both numeric and descriptive.
WebElements Periodic
Table : Professional Edition- As with the site above, this site
gives a great deal of information about the elements.
WebElements
Periodic Table : Scholar Edition - the same site
as the Professional Edition above but meant for students in universities and
other schools. (Not sure how different these pages actually are.)
Web
Elements - This site seems to be a simpler version of the
Professional Edition above. It is from Boston College. The Periodic Table of
Elements - - Clicking on the element symbol provides a
tremendous amount of information, both numeric and descriptive. (Los Alamos National Laboratory's Chemistry Division Presents:
Periodic Table of the Elements: A Resource for Elementary, Middle School, and High School Students)
Periodic Table of the
Elements - - (Think Quest) This site contains only the
numeric information when you click on an element.
The
Pictorial Periodic Table - - This site does not seem to
be available at all times. It provides mostly numeric information, along with a few facts
about the element.
Chemicool Periodic
Table - - The information given by this site is mostly in
numeric form.
Periodic Table of the
Elements --This site provides very short descriptions
when the name of the element is clicked.
Groups in the
Periodic Table - - While not as graphic as some of the
other sites, this one does have valuable information, especially as to the discovery of
the element.
ChemMystery
Periodic Table of the Elements - This site used to have links from
each of the areas of the periodic table, but at this time none of them
work. It is actually just a HUGE glossary of terms related to
Chemistry.
Periodic Table
of Elements : Environmental Chemistry.com - - "This periodic table provides
comprehensive data for each element (including up to 40 properties) and 3,600 nuclides
(isotopes)."
Periodic Table of Elements - -
This site, which uses frames, shows the periodic table on the top frame of each page.
But, depending on which of the other links you clicked on (Elements
Info, Elements Data, and Isotopes), the
information scrolls in a very small frame under this same periodic table.
HyperChemistry's
Periodic Table of Elements --This site provides numeric
data as well as some descriptive information on the elements, but you need to
search, clicking on the element in the table will not work.
"LUCID"
Periodic Table of the Elements --This site, from
Louisiana State University, does not have information on each of the elements, but it does
list some of the properties of the major groups.
Unit 4 Table of
Contents - - This site contains just some general
information on the different groups.
Chem 4 kids
- This site has a simple look and only covers the first 18
elements, but the information is useful. The
Periodic Table of Comic Books - This site uses comic
book characters as alter egos for the various elements. A
visual Interpretation of the Table of Elements - This
site looks very different from the others. It approaches the elements in a
different fashion while also providing some of the same information which is
available in other pages. |
