The 8th graders are researching inventors and the following sites may prove helpful in locating the necessary information.
Inventors Hall of Fame - This site may be the most useful since most of the inventors on the list may be found here. Even though you are asked to search, you are also given the choice to browse by letter of the alphabet once you put the cursor over the search box.
Inventions and Discoveries - This site is basically a list of inventions and the dates
Invention dimension (Inventor of the Week) - To see if the inventor you are trying to research is in this site, click on the letter corresponding to the last name of the inventor and then scan the list of names which appear.

Great Minority Inventors - This site does not have much information, but it does list some of the inventors who are more difficult to locate.
Timeline of Inventions - This site does not really provide information on the inventions or the inventors, but it is a huge listing of almost every invention placed into its proper time period.
Hall of Scientists and Inventors - this site has some information, but not all of the sites are useful.
Blacks in Technology - Great site for the black inventors
Great Idea Finder -This site has Invention Facts & Myths, Inventor Profiles, and an Innovation Timeline.
