CAREER
EXPLORATION PROJECT |
| Grade 8 - Home and Careers |
The eighth grade is working on an assignment
which requires the students to research three careers. For each career students
research, they need to fill out a set of source cards. The source cards include
the following information::
 | BIBLIOGRAPHY (a cited list of sources
students used throughout the project) |
 | JOB DESCRIPTION (an overview of the
job, including duties, responsibilities and activities of a person in that
career) |
 | WORKING CONDITIONS (Hours spent on the
job - is the
work year round or seasonal? what is the location?) |
 | TRAINING OR EDUCATION (The type of training and or
education which is required, the length of time needed to complete it, and any special
requirements needed such as a license or certification) |
 | PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Skills and abilities -
special talents or aptitudes which cannot be taught but are needed for the job) |
 | BENEFITS (Starting salary, salary with some
experience, and other fringe benefits) |
In addition to the information above, students are also
responsible for turning in a reflection piece based on their research process as
well as selecting one of the jobs they have researched and put together a flow
chart using the source cards to highlight the chosen career.
Students have been provided with these sources to use in the library:

internet format)
