| ABOUT
THE BOOK Archeologists use artifacts from the past to develop conclusions about ancient life and beliefs. In the book Motel of Mysteries, this idea is humorously depicted. The book is the account of a fictional archeologist, Howard Carson, from the year 4022. Supposedly, Howard Carson finds an ancient "burial site"--a motel--from 1985. Although he uses artifacts as the basis for his conclusions about life in the year 1985, Howard Carson's claims are comically incorrect! |

| ABOUT
THE MUSEUM For this project, students took on the role of an archeologist from the year 3000. Students were instructed to create an exhibit incorporating three artifacts from the year 2006. Then, they were asked to interpret the artifacts as an archeologist from the future might. Just like in the book Motel of Mysteries, some of the archeologists' conclusions about life in the year 2006 aren't entirely correct! |
