Phase II Building Project vote slated for winter 2010

A Pinewood student reads in the new library/media center.

Where we’ve gone...
Phase I—the infrastructure portion of Mohonasen’s building project—is nearly complete.

All four schools received structural upgrades (replacement of original drafty windows; installation of new, energy-efficient heating systems; replacement of original blackboards with new whiteboards, etc.) as well as improvements to the buildings’ security and safety features. Additionally, there are three new fine arts classrooms and corridor being built throughout the fall at the high school. (View photos below)

Where we are going...
Phase I improved our schools physically. Phase II will improve Mohonasen programmatically.

Phase II plans will address the needs of Mohonasen students by providing them with the services, space, and equipment they need to be prepared for the 21st Century.

Details of Phase II are still being discussed and negotiations to acquire land behind the high school are ongoing. However, preliminary plans are projected to include the construction of an additional classroom wing and a new library/media center at Draper; the construction of a high-tech science wing and cafeteria to accommodate new programs (forensics, culinary arts) at the high school; new athletic fields and locker room space; and the expansion of the gym at Pinewood.
