On Monday, May 10, the Mohonasen Board of Education and administration held its annual budget hearing and Meet the Candidates Night.

The proposed 10-11 budget of $42.7 million shows a 0.8 percent budget increase and 2.3 percent tax levy increase. The budget will now go before voters on Tuesday, May 18. Learn more about budget proposal

Also on May 18, voters will decide on two ballot propositions:

  • The first would allow officials to purchase approximately 36 acres of land adjacent to the high school/middle school campus using $1.425 million from the district's capital reserve fund. Learn more

  • The second is to allow the district to purchase seven 21/22 passenger buses for $290,000. Learn more

Two of the seven seats on Mohonasen's Board of Education are up for election on May 18. Candidates run at large and are elected to unpaid, three-year terms beginning July 1. This year's candidates are (in the order they will appear on the ballot): Dominic Cafarelli, Michael Godlewski and Mark Sabatini. Read the candidates' biographies.

A New Way to Vote

On May 18, all voters in Schenectady County will be using new voting machines for the school budget votes and board of education elections.
