Since January 2010, students at Draper have been broadcasting the morning announcements on a daily basis.

"The buzz surrounding the morning broadcasts has been very positive and students, staff and administrators seem to be really excited about the whole process," said Draper computer assistant Lorene Gallo, who oversees the entire operation.

The students gather at about 7:00 each morning to set up the cameras, lighting and sound equipment and to prepare the morning announcements for the day's broadcast. Most days the broadcast includes the day's announcements and a weather forecast. Sometimes there are also special performances by students or appearances by teachers or administrators.

"Some new segments including "What's for Lunch" and character education commercials are attracting more student and teacher involvement in the morning broadcast," said Gallo. "Students love the commercials and can't wait to volunteer to create the next one. Special announcers and special video events keep everyone interested in each and every broadcast. It's hard to watch a broadcast without smiling."
