DAILY HOMEWORK
Homework is given each night, Monday through Thursday. In addition to nightly homework, each fifth grade student is expected to read for a minimum of 20 minutes. Please initial your child's reading log EACH NIGHT as they meet this homework requirement.

DAILY PLANNER
It is your child's responsibility to write down his or her homework assignments in the assignment planner. By looking in the planner, you will know of tests and quizzes that are coming up as well as what homework is due the next day. Responsibility is important at this age as we prepare for the transition to middle school. I do not require that homework planners be signed each night as some of you may be accustomed to. Nightly signing of planners will only be necessary if problems arise with homework. At the fifth grade level, it is the child's responsibility to write down his/her homework, bring home the necessary materials to complete it, and hand it in when it is due.
Throughout the day, students are given time to record their assignments in their assignment planners. They are also told what materials are needed to complete the homework.

SPECIAL PROJECTS
On occasion, a special project may be assigned. The students will have plenty of time to work on it at home. If the students wait until last minute to complete these projects, they may end up with an overwhelming amount of work to do at home.
