Soldier visits third graders after receiving letters

Doug Zautner expects to spend the next six months in Iraq and some Pinewood students are hoping to make that stay a little easier. Zautner, who is a member of the 206 MP Company based in Latham, first left for Iraq in August. While there, Brenda Stahl's third graders started writing letters to his unit. A good family friend of Zautner's has a son in Stahl's class, she explains.

Recently home on leave, Zautner visited the Pinewood classroom to meet the students. While there, he answered their questions about Iraq and received a pile of holiday cards that the students made for his unit.

Below are pictures from Zautner's visit.
