This year the Mohonasen Family & Friends team raised $6,272 for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
In all, the 2009 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, sponsored by the American Cancer Society, raised more than $1,000,000 for breast cancer research.
Approximately 65 Mohonasen team members joined 12,000 walkers at this year’s walk, which was held on Oct. 18 in Albany’s Washington Park.
The Mohonasen Family and Friends team started walking 14 years ago, with just four team members.
A special thank you to all those who donated to Mohonasen's total, and to team leaders Kim Coelho, Karen Smith, Cheryl Rasmussen, Darcy Brem, Pam Constantino and Pat Rushby who helped organize this group effort.
Mohonasen Family & Friends would also like to thank the Mohonasen High School Orchestra, as well as their advisor Kimberly Kondenar. This group was instrumental in raising awareness and money for this year’s walk.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer allows the American Cancer Society to continue its mission to put an end to breast cancer and to diminish suffering for those afflicted by the disease.
