Students race to buckle up

On Monday, April 19, Mohonasen High School's SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) chapter once again sponsored a "Battle of the Belts" competition.

The Battle of the Belts is an exciting contest where four-person student/staff teams complete to see who can achieve the fastest time buckling their seat belts. The competition is designed to change behaviors and attitudes about seat belt use among middle and high school age students.

The event was started as part of the Sean Patrick French Memorial Run, which is held each year in memory of Sean Patrick French. French died on New Year's Day 2002 in a drunk-driving accident at the age of 17.

The van was donated for the day by Mohawk Honda in Schenectady.
