Two Mohonasen students participate in regional spelling bee

Two students from Mohonasen participated in the 2010 Capital Region Spelling Bee at Proctor's Theatre on March 15. Congratulations to fifth grade student, Emily Helinski, and eighth grader, Jacob Nuding, who won their school spelling bees before moving on to the regional level.

After 100+ students spelled 369 words, Burnt Hills Ballston Lake student Ashley LaMere was named winner of the five-hour Capital Region Spelling Bee. Students from area public and private schools in 11 counties competed.

The event was sponsored by Capital Region BOCES, the Times Union, Albany Public Library, Hannaford Supermarkets, Proctors Theatre and Time Warner Cable. The event will be available via Time Warner Cable’s Local On Demand (Channel 1009) and at noon on March 20 on cable channel 3. Learn more at the Capital Region BOCES Web site.
