Mythology students interact with world-renowned professor
April 20, 2010
On April 15, the twelfth-grade World Mythology class had the opportunity to hear and interact with renowned Comparative World Mythologist Professor I. Babusa, PhD, by video conference in the LGI. Professor Babusa, originally from Kenya, is an expert in Swahili mythology, and is a visiting professor at St. Lawrence University.
Professor Babusa narrated, sang and drummed a Swahili myth that corresponded with a myth that Mohonasen students were studying. Students then had time to ask Professor Babusa questions about his life, his study of mythology and how mythologies connect all people.
"The technology that connected Mohonasen with
Professor Babusa was an incredible example of the different types of
learning available to our students," said Elizabeth Craft, high
school English teacher. "What an incredible experience to have a
Master Mythologist right in our classroom."
