Draper students will soon be “flipping” for new technology in the classroom
March 25, 2010
Thanks
to a grant from the Mohonasen Foundation for Excellence, Inc.,
students and teachers at Draper Middle School will now have access
to 10 new Flip Video Cameras.
The cameras will be used for a variety of audio and video projects, in a range of subject areas. The video projects will be incorporated into teacher’s lesson plans according to NYS Learning Standards.
The cameras are so easy to use that a few teachers and their students have already started "taping."
Mrs. Weaver’s sixth-grade ELA students produced “digital book talks.” While working in literature circles, students had to create an “advertisement” for a particular book, hoping to encourage others to read the same book.
Mrs. Coehlo’s sixth graders have started podcasting assignments. Students can actually listen to their classmates recite their daily homework.
Special Education Teacher, Mrs. Fahrenkopf, is working with her students to create video podcasts that can be used as final exam study guides.
What is a podcast?
A podcast is a collection of audio and/or video files that
