Class activity simulates drunk driving

Student drivies with Fatal Vision GogglesMohonasen High School’s Criminal Justice students recently experienced what
it would be like to drive a car with a blood alcohol level of 2.0.

Each student drove the school’s security golf cart through a pre-designed obstacle course with Fatal Vision Goggles on. The goggles distort vision and cause reactions that mimic behaviors exhibited by someone under the influence of alcohol and other drugs. Chief of Security, Jeff Jackson, and School Resource Officer, Mike Rumbaugh, sat in the passenger seat while each student was driving.

Students in the criminal justice program learn all aspects of the criminal science field—everything from being a security officer at a mall or prison to cracking a criminal investigation through the use of DNA.
