Bradt students are “Marching into Reading”
March 8, 2010
Bradt
students will be “Marching into Reading” with special literacy
activities planned throughout the month.
On March 2, Children’s Librarian from the Schenectady County Public Library, Nancy Gifford, presented at an all-school assembly to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday. Students learned about Dr. Seuss’ life and played a Dr. Seuss trivia game. Gifford read the book, “Bartholomew and the Oobleck,” by Dr. Suess, which is a story about a young boy named Bartholomew, who must rescue his kingdom from a sticky, green substance called oobleck.
On March 15, Jim Mitchell from Academic Entertainment, Inc., will present a “6 + 1 Writing Fun” program, which mixes comedy, magic and music to get students excited about writing.
In addition, each Friday during the month of March, every class will participate in a building-wide Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) time.
