Dec. 29, 2009
On Dec. 28, the Mohonasen Central
School District dedicated the Mohonasen High School music wing to long-time
music teacher and director, David G. Bournazian or "Mr. B", during a special
recognition ceremony.
Bournazian began his teaching career in 1953 in Pittsfield, MA after serving in the United States Army. He came to Mohonasen in 1964 as a music teacher. During his tenure at Mohonasen he served as director of the Senior High Marching Band, the Senior High Pep Band, the Senior High State Band and Facilitator of Fine Arts. He led the high school band to numerous first place wins at various competitions and was instrumental in the band’s participation in several area parades over the years. In 1980, he brought national attention to the district when the Mohonasen High School Marching Band participated in the 1980 Olympic Torch Lighting Ceremony at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. He retired from teaching in January 2005.
During the school year, a display case will be created at the high school, showing the history of music in the district.

The Mohonasen Board of Education presented the sign, "Bournazian Way," to David Bournazian, signifying the dedication of the music wing in his honor.
