Second grader writes winning animal adoption essay

The Animal Protective Foundation (APF) in Scotia recently held their eighth annual “Be Kind to Animals Week” poster and essay contest. Second-grade student, Isabella O’Clair, placed second in the grade 2 essay contest.

This year’s theme, “Adopt Me!” drew entries encouraging adoption of pets available for adoption at the APF’s shelter.

Over 850 entries were submitted by students from schools throughout the Capital Region. On May 3, over 200 parents, family members and teachers gathered in the Hearst Education Center in Proctors Theatre to celebrate the works of the 39 contest winners. Gift bags and ribbons were presented to each of the winners in grades 1 through 5.

Congratulations!
