Parents reminded to be vigilant

On Tuesday, Dec. 22, an 11-year-old Draper Middle School student was reportedly accosted by a male stranger shortly after getting off of the school bus. According to police, the stranger was a white man, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and of medium build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The girl kicked the man in the groin and was able to run home and call police.

All district bus drivers, along with School Resource Officer (SRO) Mike Rumbaugh, are currently on the lookout for anything suspicious in the community. All parents, faculty members and neighbors are reminded to do the same. Parents are also reminded to talk to their children about being aware of their surroundings and to not talk to strangers.
