Relay for LifeMohonasen community raises $34,000 for American Cancer Society

On May 1 and 2, the Mohonasen community came together for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. Approximately 375 participants made up 27 teams, which walked -- or ran -- in the all-night event to raise money to fight cancer and raise awareness for cancer prevention and treatment. When all was said and done, more than $34,000 had been raised for this worthy cause.

Thirty cancer survivors kicked off the event with the survivor lap and later luminarias were lit to honor those who have lost their lives or otherwise been profoundly affected by cancer.

Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's signature activity. It offers everyone in a community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer.
