Tim Hulihan appointed high school assistant principal
Aug. 20, 2008
The
Mohonasen Board of Education recently appointed Tim Hulihan to the
position of high school assistant principal. Hulihan takes over for
Dave Collins, who was promoted from assistant principal to principal
earlier this summer.
For the last six years, Hulihan taught advanced placement (AP) calculus, pre-calculus and advanced algebra at Mohonasen High School. He has also served as the Mohonasen High School dean for the last two years. Before that, he was a math teacher at Niskayuna High School for two years and a teacher intern at Albany High School for one year.
Since 1999, Hulihan has been actively involved in both state and local conferences where he has spoken on different mathematics-related topics. In 2007, he was the co-president of the Hudson-Mohawk Mathematics Conference, which was held at Mohonasen High School.
“I’ve always thought that it was important to represent the Mohonasen Central School District as a leader in educational initatives,” Hulihan said. “We have some of the best programs, teachers, support staff and administrators in education.”
In his position as a math teacher at Mohonasen, Hulihan helped to create the Mohonasen Mathematics Honor Society (MHS)2, a honor society for juniors and seniors who have at least a 90 percent average overall, as well as in mathematics. The group recognizes mathematical achievement and its members are involved in activities designed to enhance their mathematical knowledge and the mathematical knowledge of all Mohonasen High School students.
As an assistant principal, Hulihan is planning to work on the master schedule, as well as an extra-curricular calendar for the school’s honor societies, yearbook, school paper and other activities that meet during 10th period to ensure that the meetings don’t overlap. He will also serve as the point person for the district’s Vo-Tec program and the chair of the faculty Hallway Committee.
