Pinewood library will be purchasing new fairy tale books thanks to BOCES Mini Grant
January 2008
Pinewood library was awarded an $881 BOCES
School Library Services School Library Mini Grant.
The grant money will go toward purchasing new fairy tale books,
which will be used as part of the third-grade cross-curriculur unit
on fairytales. The unit will be launched with a performance of
“Pinocchio” presented by The Lake George Opera on March 18. Students
will then learn about fairytales in their classrooms and in the
library. While in music class, students will learn some of the music
of classic fairy tales and in art class the focus will be on
illustrating the tales.
“I am especially thrilled about this grant because children are
learning the fractured versions of the tale before knowing the
original,” said Pinewood Librarian Mindy Holland. “These books will
help bring the magic of the classic tales to our students.”
