Math Olympiad provides enrichment activities for Pinewood students

Picture of Pinewood students who participated in Math OlympiadThis year, Math Olympiad provided enrichment at all three grade levels in Pinewood. Third graders met after school with Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Wager, and fourth and fifth graders met before school with Ms. Bromley and parent volunteers. Fourth and fifth grade teams met to learn strategies, “play” with challenging problems and intriguing math games (like Numbers League), and compete.

There are five math competitions over the course of the first several months of school, and the cumulative score is submitted to Math Olympiad. Several students came Thursday, May 29, to celebrate their achievements and participation in the program with Ms. Hunter, and are pictured here with Ms. Bromley and some of the team parents. Students earned certificates for participating, and a few earned patches and/or trophies for their high scores. The third graders worked on projects and improving and expanding their math skills, preparing to compete in their fourth grade year.
