Pinewood 4th graders inspired by author's visit

Picture of author Joseph Bruchac with Pinewood studentsAuthor Joseph Bruchac visited Pinewood on November 15, where he spoke to fourth graders about writing, reading, and listening. Students were so impressed with his speech, this is what they had to say:

  • "His stories made me feel like I was in them." —Peter Konrad

  • "I was thinking, oh cool, I like writing. Maybe I can be a famous author like him!"—Kunika Chahal

  • "We are writing a school newspaper, we're writers. Anyone can be the next author." —John Burrows

  • "When I read his book Wabi, I could picture the story like a movie in my head." —Mackenzie Van Vranken

  • "I started reading his books for the contest and now I don't want to read just for 20 minutes (required by th teacher. I want to read for a long time. —Michael Carnavos

  • "When he said how long it takes him to write books, then he said how he keeps looking over his words, I thought I could take longer and do that." —Kyle Thomas

  • "I love to read but he inspired me to read more."—Peter Konrad

  • "It was cool that he is an Indian."—Remo Veliveau
