Draper students challenged to read 25 books
June 2008
For
the first time, this past school year Draper MS issued a 25 Book
Reading Challenge to students in grades 6-8. Once a book was read,
students filled out a star for "The Galaxy of Reading Stars" which
was displayed on the wall in front of the Draper Library.
The program kicked-off in October with author Daniel Hayes. He spoke
about and autographed his books for the students. A dinner of pizza,
beverage and ice cream was provided. Students brought sleeping bags,
blankets and a book to read during the evening celebration.
Then, those students who completed the challenge (pictured here)
celebrated with a "Make Your Own Sundae" party on Thursday, June 5.
They were given certificates, a book and a gift certificate to
Barnes and Noble.
Students who completed the challenge include:
6th graders: Tyler Ronan; Laura Treers and Gabrielle Tegiacchi (not pictured)
7th grader: Aislinn Elmore
8th graders: Trevina Litchmore; Dan Howland
Special thanks go to Ms. Manno, Mrs. Male, the Draper Student Council and the PTSO for their support.
