ALUMNI SERVICES

Mohonasen and Draper alumni now have a means for reuniting: the Mohonasen High School Alumni Directory 2003. The directory was sponsored and funded by the Mohonasen Foundation for Excellence in an effort to reach out to valued alumni seeking to reestablish ties with classmates, schoolmates, and their Mohonasen heritage. It contains the names of all Mohonasen and Draper graduates 1960-2001 and biographical information that will help graduates locate long-lost friends. Data solicited from alumni updates residence, employment and family information. Alumni are listed by class year and by current geographical area.

A history of the school districts traces the history of Rotterdam schools as far back as 1821 to the present. Photos recall memories of the schools we attended and a few popular activities. And in case you’ve forgotten your alma mater, it’s there, too.

It took more than a year to collect directory data from over eleven thousand alumni. To make the task more manageable when the Foundation publishes an updated directory in 2008, we’d like to urge classes that are organizing reunions to share their records with the Foundation. Those records would be used by the Foundation strictly for updating the directory. Updated records can be sent to the Foundation at P.O. Box 4207, Schenectady, NY 12304. Alumni can also thumb through the directory at the Foundation’s display at Community Day, the SEFA fair and other community events. Search for long-lost classmates, people from the old neighborhood, or the class clown. Check the directory for your personal entry and register updated information.

As Mohonasen and Draper graduates, you have many fond memories of high school – your fellow students, teachers, and those special programs and projects that not only made school exciting for you but also helped you become successful. The Mohonasen Foundation wants current students to have the benefit of all it takes to make their days as memorable. In these days of fiscal restraints it is a struggle for the school district to provide the extent of meaningful academic experiences you remember so well.

That is why the Mohonasen Foundation exists. It is an organization independent of the district but working to support district goals. Since 1997 the Foundation has funded over $80,000 through sixty grants that provided students with portable telescopes, hundreds of books, technology equipment, ELA programs, music and art projects, summer reading programs, student assemblies and much more. In order to continue our programs we ask your help.

Gather your classmates and friends and attend our biggest fundraising event, a buffet dinner and silent auction, on Friday, November 6, 2009 from 6-10 p.m. at Mallozzi’s on Curry Road. It’s sure to be an evening of reunions and memories. Dinner reservations, at $45.00 per person, can be obtained from Foundation members or from Craig Radliff at (518)356-4358.

Another way to contribute is to donate silent auction items. Or you can purchase an ad to advertise your business. Ads at $150, $100 or $75 are also available from Craig. Whichever way you choose to contribute, your generosity will help the Mohonasen Foundation improve education for all Mohonasen students.

Thank you for your generosity to your alma mater.
