Living Environment Letter Home
In case you misplaced or can't find that important letter I sent home at the beginning of the year, here it is again...
Dear Parents/Guardians:
For those of you whose student had me last year, hello again. For those
of you who are new to me, hello for the first time. I am very excited to
begin this second year with your students. We have a lot of very
exciting and interesting topics to cover this year, including genetics,
genetic engineering, and evolution. Many of my policies are the same as
last year; however, there are some very important changes that I would
like to let you know about.
1. There will be HOMEWORK this year. Homework will
count as 10% of the overall grade. Homework will not be accepted late.
2. There is a Regents exam in June. In order for your student to be
eligible to take the Regents, they must complete 1200 minutes of lab
time. Each of the labs must have a grade of 65 or higher in order to
count for the lab time. Labs that receive a grade below 65 will have to
be redone. Students will have to come after school to redo labs. If
students do not have the 1200 minutes of time, they will not be able to
sit for the exam, and therefore they will be ineligible for summer
school. Students who do not complete the lab requirements will have to
RETAKE THE COURSE THE FOLLOWING YEAR.
3. There are 4 MANDATORY state labs. These labs are required in order to
sit for the Regents exam. These labs take several days to complete, so
if a student misses the time they will have to stay afterschool to make
up the lab time.
4. There is a review book that should be purchased. The review book will
cost $10.50 and payments can be made by check (payable to Mohonasen) or
by EXACT change. This review book will be used extensively in the second
half of the year. There will be homework assigned from the review book
in the second half of the year. I would like to have money collected by
Thanksgiving so that we can secure the 2009 prices.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate
