Student Artist of the Month, May 2010
Hannah Wickenhoefer

Hannah
Wickenhoefer is a sixteen year old, soon to be junior, who will
return home to Koblenz, Germany after an extremely successful
school year at Mohonasen. The German exchange student has been
enrolled in Drawing and Painting class where it became evident
that this fluent English speaking, young woman's talents not only
lie with her academics, but with her fine arts skills as well.
Hannah spends an additional 3-4 hours daily on her computer arts
and looks forward to attending a specialized school named
Landeskunstgymnasium in Rheinland-Pfalz next fall.
Hannah has really enjoyed her stay in America. She has developed some special relationships with other student "artists-friends," joined the Art Club and even got to visit Disney World with her host family over spring break. She feels lucky to have studied at Mohonasen because in her opinion, the school and community seem to have a greater appreciation for the arts than anywhere else she's ever been to. Art remains her favorite subject, but she also enjoys theatre and musicals. Since the first grade when Hannah fell in love with art she has needed to build things, using her hands to decorate items in order to make them unique to her. Today, that is exactly what she does on the computer. She borrows others' ideas, learns how to mimic them with computer drawing skills and then builds upon them to make them even better.
Kopie, is the German word for copy. Therefore, some of Hannah's images featured below are enhanced copies from other artists' inventions on deviantART.com. Credit is given to the individual artist in the title of the image. All other images remain her own creations. You may wonder why Hannah is obsessed with dragons. She explains that they are fascinating creatures with no rules or guidelines. She can make some with fur or feathers, wings or tails, and nothing has to be permanent. If she wants to make changes she can at any time, by adding or deleting any of her 30-40 Photoshop layers.
