Mr. Jones Joins the Mohonasen Team

Mr. Jones comes to the Mohonasen School District as the new high school band director.  Mr. Jones is a 1988 and 1994 graduate of Ithaca College, from which he holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and Performance and a Master's  Degree in Music Education.  While at Ithaca Mr. Jones' major instrument was the saxophone and he took additional private instruction in voice and flute.  During the summer of 2010 Mr. Jones attended the Conductors Workshop for Music Educators at the Juilliard School in New York City.   Mr. Jones is in his 21st year of teaching.  Prior to coming to Mohonasen he had taught music in Orchard Park, Kendall, Livonia, Medina and Johnstown.  Mr. Jones is currently the president of the Mid-York Color Guard Circuit (MYCGC), active in the New York state Field Band Conference (NYSFBC) and the Schenectady County Music Association (SCMA).

Four Mohonasen Band Students Selected for Area All-State  Ensembles

Several band, chorus and orchestra students from the Mohonasen High School Music Department were selected for the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Zone 7 Area All-State festival.  The festival is being held Friday and Saturday, November 19 and 20 at the Saratoga Springs High School, culminating with a concert held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday.  Marissa Holliday (flute/2011), Kylie Horton (flute/2012), and Brendan Elmore (percussion/2012) were selected to perform with the Concert Band.  Steve Cara (trumpet/2011) was selected to perform with the Symphony Orchestra. Congratulations to these four band students for this terrific honor, which is a result of their dedication and hard work over the years.
