Mrs. Hunt (dhunt@mohonasen.org)
2009-2010
· Three-ring Binder, Dividers, Loose Leaf Paper, Graph Paper, Pencils and Pens, Assignment Notebook, Graphing Calculator (TI-83 or better)
The following are important pointers to keep your binder neat and organized. These will help you be successful in this course and will be graded.
· Date all papers with the date in which they were distributed.
· Take good notes – Copy all written information and examples from the board. Be sure to include in your notes any hints and explanations given verbally.
· Keep all notes, homework, quizzes, tests and projects in order by section and date.
Homework is a required part of this course and will be collected or checked everyday. Your homework grade is not only based on correct answers, but on the effort you put into completing the assignment.
· The following point systems will be used to determine your homework grade
o Each homework assignment will be worth a maximum of 5 points
o An assignment will receive the full 5 points if all problems are neatly completed in pencil and handed in the day it is due
o A value ranging between one to four points will be earned depending upon the percent of the problems completed
o
No points will be earned if there was no
attempt to complete the assignment
o
An assignment that was not
completed for homework can be made up after school only on the day the
assignment was due. The
assignment will receive one point deduction for each day (not
class) it is late.
· Your homework average will be calculated using the following formula:
HW AVERAGE = (# of pts earned) / (# of possible pts) x 100
· Show ALL of your work when completing the assigned problems.
A
list of answers is not considered homework and will not receive any
credit.
· We have adopted an on-line book. You will be given a username and password in order to sign into the on-line book at http://my.hrw.com. * CORE GEOMETRY STUDENTS ONLY*
All tests will be announced approximately one week in advance. Most quizzes will be announced two days in advance, but occasional pop quizzes may be given.
This grade includes any collected work that does not fall into the Homework, Test or Quiz categories. Some examples of work that might fit into this category are warm up exercises, review assignments, group work, class work and lab activities.
- Lowest quiz grade is dropped each quarter.
- Grades will be calculated as indicated below:
Good attendance contributes to a better understanding of the subject, as well as, better grades. The following tips will help you if you are absent from class.
· If you know you will miss a class due to a trip or activity, make arrangements ahead of time to find out what materials you will be missing in addition to handing in the assignment due that day.
· It is your responsibility to get the notes from another student in the class in addition to picking up any handouts that were distributed.
· Any homework, quizzes or tests missed due to an absence must be completed within one week of your return to class.
My expectations for my students are the same as that of any other teacher. Students should pay attention, take good notes, ask questions, study and complete assignments on time.
The basic rules for the classroom etiquette, which you are expected to follow, are:
·
***Respect all people and their property.***
· When the bell rings, be in your seat and ready for class. (Homework out!)
· Bathroom visits should be made between classes, not during class time.
· No food or drink in the classroom
· Clean up after yourself; do not leave any papers by your chair.
· Raise your hand and wait to be called on. Do not talk out of turn.
· If you do not understand, ask!!!
· At the end of class, remain seated and wait for my dismissal.
All students will be taking a school final exam in June. In accordance with school policy, each quarter grade and the final exam grade will count as one-fifth of the final average.
Learning is best achieved when both the parents/guardians are actively involved with the teacher and students. Therefore, we the undersigned have read the above information. Throughout this academic year, please do no hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns regarding this course!
