About Us
The Mohonasen Central School District draws
most of its students from the
town of Rotterdam – however, students also come from the towns
of
Colonie and
Guilderland. Mohonasen is a Suburban Council school district
that serves about 3,200 students in kindergarten through 12th grade.
We have two elementary schools:
Bradt Primary School, which serves students in grades K-2, and
Pinewood Intermediate School, which serves students in grades
3-5.
Draper Middle School serves students in grades 6-8 and
Mohonasen High School serves students in grades 9-12.
Mohonasen’s students consistently achieve high marks on
state exams, and our schools are among the top-performing
schools in the region. Our instructional staff consists of roughly
250 professionals, who are supported by six academic administrators
and eight principals and assistant principals.
Our students are also actively involved in many
music and
theater performance groups, including the
Mohon Masque Theatre Group, which has a reputation for
outstanding performances and plays to packed houses year after year.
Additionally, roughly 40 percent of all students are involved in at
least one
interscholastic sport. The district’s attendance rate averages
96 percent a year.
All district activities, programs, and goals are funded by an annual
budget of roughly $41 million.
Community Groups

Communication
The Mohonasen Central School District Web

each day with stories, news, alerts, reminders. You will also find
all
teacher Web pages,

important forms, a
calendar of
district wide and school events,
job postings, student and parent resources and much, much more.
If you're looking for something that is not on the Web site, please
e-mail us, or call us at 356-8250 to let us know.
Parents and community members can sign up for School News Notifier (SNN), an opt-in e-mail alert system that sends out important school and district news as well as emergency closing and delay information.
The district calendar, which is mailed home each summer is full of "news you can use" - along with important calendar dates for the entire school year.
Throughout the school year, pre-school, elementary, middle school and high school parents will receive our parent newsletters, which are full of important resources and information for parents.
All Mohonasen residents will receive period district newsletters, including a special budget edition, which is sent out each spring before the May budget vote.
Other important publications for parents include the Code of Conduct, Middle Middle School Success is Required Guide and High School Survival Guide. The most recent versions of these publications can be found on our forms and publications page.
