On this page, you can get a list of what the Essential Tasks are for the year.  You MAY print ET's directly from this page!  If you have any questions or concerns, please make an appointment to see me.  I am available during advisory, or after school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

 

Quarter 1

Task Assignment
1.1 Editorial
For this Essential Task, students need to read an article, and write a letter to the editor in response to the article.  Click on the links below for specific instructions and materials.

Quarter 2

Task Assignment
2.1 Writer's Notebook
We have spent a lot of time writing in our writer's notebook. Therefore, for this Essential Task, students need to look through their writer's notebook (which is kept in the classroom) in order to reflect and respond about themselves as a writer.  Follow the links below for specific instructions and grading rubric.

2.2 Persuasive Writing

3.1 Expository Writing
We have spent a lot of time on expository writing this quarter (three essays total).  This Essential Task allow students to choose one of the three essay, the one essay they feel is their best work, for a final grade.  See links below for specific instructions and rubric.

3.2 Compare/Contrast Essay
We completed two in-class writing assignments that aligned with the New York State Assessment.  Students who received an INC for this assignment need to fix/make corrections to his/her essay.  See Mrs. Geracitano for your essay.

Quarter 4

Task Assignment
4.1 Poetry Chapbook Project
We have been working on poetry for quite some time now.  This project is a collection of original poems, written by each student, and poems that each student likes or has been influenced by.  See the link below for project specifics.
