The following are the classroom's rules that
 you should follow to be successful in Spanish

1. All school/team rules apply-refer to school handbook and team rules sheet.

2. Absolutely NO gum chewing or food/candy (How can you speak clearly otherwise?)

3. You must pay CLOSE ATTENTION in class. In a foreign language class each new thing builds upon the last.

4. Daily HOMEWORK is posted on the right hand corner of the classroom chalkboard.
If absent, you must get class-work and/or homework from your telephone partner.

No excuses. No homework means I will see you afterschool for extra help.

5. Come prepared to learn and have fun!

6.Study by practicing saying ALOUD all vocabulary words for at least 15 minutes each day.

7. Do extra credit activities using the textbook online or Extra Credit link on this page.

 

 

 

Materials needed to be prepared for class EVERYDAY:

  • *Textbook: Realidades  (blue book) 1b
     *Agenda
    *Spanish Notebook Dictionary
    *One subject notebook in a 3 ring spiral binder
    *Pencil/pen/coloring pencils and/or crayons      
    *Homework assignments completed to the best of your ability
    *Ready to participate... Speak Spanish!!!



Grading System:

  • All quarterly grades will be based upon the following:

    20% Unit tests

    20% Projects

    40% Class participation (Every word in Spanish is a point!!! Be ready to talk)

    10% Quizzes
    10% Homework
             (students begin with 100 pts and lose 5pts for each
              missing homework a assignment )

    TALKING SPANISH IN CLASS MEANS PARTICIPATION POINTS(PESETAS).

NEW YORK STATE FOREIGN LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY EXAM

The Final exam for this course is the New York State Language Proficiency Assessment.

This exam is 20% of your final average for Spanish, in other words in counts as one more quarter grade.

The exam consists of the following four parts:

Part 1a. 10 pts. Oral Participation in class.

Part 1b. 20 pts. Oral Situations (student holds 4 conversations
(with teacher on topics chosen randomly in May)

Part 2 (A, B, C) 40 pts. Listening Comprehension

Part 3 (A and B) 20 pts. Reading Comprehension

Part 4 10 pts. Writing (Two notes out of three and 30
words each.)
