Replacement of school buses

On May 18, Mohonasen residents will be asked to vote on a proposition to purchase seven 21-22 passenger buses (three would be wheelchair compatible) buses at a cost of $390,000. Of this amount, 82.2 percent ($320,580) would be paid for in the form of state aid, meaning taxpayers would be responsible for $69,420—or approximately $13,884 a year for five years.

The purchase of these buses would have no impact on next year’s budget and since the district is always retiring debt, the new purchase would result in a minimal increase on that debt.

Mohonasen is on a regular bus replacement schedule based on mileage, age of vehicles, repair history and condition.
