Mohonasen budget approved by voters

On Tuesday, May 19, Mohonasen residents voted to approve the district's 2009-2010 proposed budget with 1,016 voting in favor and 536 voting against it. The $42.4 million budget carries a 1.068 percent spending increase over the current year and a 0.59 percent increase in the tax levy.

Voters also approved a $650,000 proposition to purchase five 66-passenger buses, two 22-passenger wheelchair buses and two eight-passenger Suburbans, with 1,016 voting in favor and 515 voting against it.

Three of five candidates were also elected to the Mohonasen Board of Education. Voters elected incumbent Gary Spadaro (940 votes), newcomer Tom Andriola (857 votes) and incumbent Eileen French (826 votes).
