How long have you been teaching Kindergarten?

I have been teaching kindergarten for 25 years. I was a stay at home mom for nine years when my children were little.

Where do you live?

I have always lived in Rotterdam, and I went to Bradt School when I was a little girl. My husband, daughter, son, and I are all graduates of Mohonasen. My daughter, Mrs. Steele, teaches P.E. at the H.S.

Who are the members of your family?

My family includes my husband Chris, our son Steve (31),

and our daughter Nikki(34), her husband Alex, their son

Brodie(5) and 3  year old daughter Parker.

Do you have any pets?

Dogs are my favorite animal, and we have a 3 year old Golden Retriever named Tanner.  Tanner is a certified Therapy Dog, and we will visit hospitals, and hopefully work in schools to assist children to become better readers. The title of the program is R.E.A.D.(Reading Assistance Education Dog.)

What is your educational background?

I have a B.S. in Elementary Education from SUNY College at Oneonta,  with a minor in Educational Psychology. I received a Masters of Science Degree in Reading from The University at Albany.

What do you like to do?

I like to spend time with my family, read, swim, fish, go for boat rides, play piano, and ride my bike. I  belong to the Bradt Book Club, and enjoy getting together with my teacher friends to discuss books we have read. Mr. Doulides and I also enjoy serving as volunteer ushers at Proctors Theatre.

What is your favorite season?

I love summer! We have a little camp at Lake George, and I really enjoy spending time there.

What is your favorite sport?

I love gymnastics, and I like to watch baseball. My son-in-law used to play for the Detroit Tigers!

What is your favorite color?

My favorite color is blue.

When is your birthday?

My birthday is May 12th.

What is your favorite food?

My favorite food is lobster.

Why did you become a teacher?

I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in first grade. I have had a lot of good teachers that made a difference in my life. I wanted to make a difference, too!
