Don't Laugh at Me Program

 

 

In first grade your child learned that they were strong and smart enough to solve small problems on their own, through the Conflict Resolution Program, Kelso’s Choice.

 

This year, second graders will be introduced to a bully prevention program called, Don’t Laugh at Me.  Don’t Laugh at Me addresses issues of the heart, as well as the mind. This program harnesses the power of music and art to transform, inspire, and build skills in students.  The activities in this program are designed to:

• Raise awareness

• Explore feelings

• Connect children to their inner selves and one another

• Provide important tools for teachers 

When children begin the Don’t Laugh at Me program they have an opportunity to share their feelings they experienced when they, or others, were impacted by disrespect. Then by using the tools and activities children become sensitized to the hurtful effects of ridicule, name calling, bullying, and other forms of disrespect that they encounter in the classroom and their lives beyond.

 

In a nut shell, the purpose of the Don’t Laugh at Me program is to nurture children’s emotional, social, and ethical development such as character education, and conflict resolution.
