A Mohonasen graduate, she studied human services and dental hygiene at Hudson Valley Community College. A registered dental hygienist, she worked in private practice for 10 years and for the New York State Department of Health for more than 25 years. Currently, she works in the state Office of the Medicaid Inspector General.
Over the course of her 21-year tenure on the board, del Prado has served as vice-president for two years and president for seven years. She currently serves as the vice-president of the Capital District School Boards Association and was an Area 7 Legislative Liaison for the New York State School Boards Association. Her ties to the district go back to her father, William B. Haessig, who was Mohonasen's first superintendent of schools from 1956-1962.
She has volunteered with numerous district programs and committees. These include the Full-Day Kindergarten Committee, the Facilities Committee, Mohonasen Goals 2000, Odyssey of the Mind, Community Day and the Mohonasen Foundation. She has also been involved with Music Parents, the PTO, Sports Boosters, Mohon Masque, color guard, winter guard, swimming and cross country.
Outside of the district, del Prado was a Girl Scout leader for several years, as well as vice president and a member of the Schenectady Area Mothers of Twins Club.
del Prado and her husband, Thomas, have four children who are all Mohonasen graduates.
