What follows are some key
things to know about the new schedule:
THE SCHEDULE FOLLOWS AN
ALTERNATING SIX-DAY CYCLE. Morning
announcements will remind students if it's an A, B, C, D, E or F day. There will
also be announcements posted around the school and on the morning announcements
link on the high school homepage.
WHEN A HOLIDAY OR SNOW
DAY OCCURS the
schedule will pick up where it left off. For example, if Monday is an
"A" day and Tuesday is a snow day, then Wednesday will be a
"B" day. In this manner students will not skip a day in their
instructional schedule.
ALL STUDENTS WILL HAVE
A MIXTURE OF 81- AND 39-MINUTE CLASSES EVERY DAY.
While at first it may sound confusing, this combination of classes actually
offers more flexibility in instructional time. The information below should help
clarify:

HOMEROOM IS NOW
SEPARATE FROM THE STUDENTS' REGULAR CLASSES. This
takes place from 7:38 to 7:45 a.m. daily and will be the time designated for all
announcements and distribution of grade level materials
to students.
BLOCKS 1-2, 3-4 AND 8-9 are
each comprised of 81-minutes of instructional time. Again, depending on a
student's particular schedule, some students will remain in one class for 81
minutes, while others may be scheduled for two 39-minute classes within the
block.
BLOCK 5-6-7
is 123-minutes long and is split into three 39-minute periods. All students will
eat lunch during one of these 39-minute periods. During the remainder of the
time, students will either have an 81-minute class or two 39-minute classes
depending on their individual schedules.
ABOUT ACTIVITY PERIOD.
Activity period is an important part of the school day at Mohonasen. This is
designated time for:
-
Extra academic help,
when needed, with teachers.
-
Scheduled meetings of
school clubs and extracurricular activities.
-
Homework --
particularly for athletes.
-
Detention, if assigned.
-
Parent-teacher
conferences.
REMEMBER TO BE ON TIME
TO CLASS. There
are five minutes between the end of one BLOCK and the start of another.
There are only three minutes between the 39-minute classes offered within
a block. Since there are fewer students passing during the times within a block,
students should easily be able to get from one class to another, on time. In
some cases you may not have to stop at your locker, so plan accordingly. If you
are detained by a teacher, ask for a pass. Otherwise, if you're not in your
classroom by the time the bell rings, you'll be marked tardy. This includes
homeroom.
