Over the course of her
18-year tenure on the board, del Prado has served as vice-president for two years and president for seven years. She currently
serves as the vice- president of the Capital District School Boards Association and has served as the Area 7 Legislative Liaison for several years.
She has been a facilitator at several New York State School Boards Association Conventions. Most recently
del Prado served on the Capital Region BOCES component school district interview team for the BOCES Superintendent search.
Her ties to the district go back to her father, William B. Haessig, who was Mohonasen’s first Superintendent of Schools from 1956-1962.
She has worked for the New York State Health Department for over 20 years, and currently works for the New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General. She is a Registered Dental Hygienist and worked in private practice for 10 years in addition to her state service.
del Prado received her Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene from Hudson Valley Community College and has done coursework in Human Services at HVCC and in Business Studies at Empire State College.
del Prado is an alumnus of Mohonasen and has been a long time volunteer with the district. She co-founded the District’s Goals 2000 and 2005 school improvement initiative and was active in the Connect for Success program where she was co-chair of the Family and Youth Connections committee. In that capacity, she helped launch the Mohon Safe Homes Network, brought Odyssey of the Mind back to Mohonasen, as well as
brought in the EPIC parenting workshops and Character Counts.
She has been an active supporter of athletics, keeping score for the varsity boys swim team and helping support varsity boys cross country and track and field. She has also been active in Mohonasen Music Parents, Band Boosters, PTO and PTSO, as well as Mohon Masque Theater group for many years.
She and her husband, Thomas, have four children: Nicholas, a graduate of Mohonasen and Hudson Valley Community College; Valerie, a graduate of Mohonasen and Salve Regina University; and twins Nina and Marc who are graduates of Mohonasen. Nina is currently attending Springfield College, and Marc is a May graduate of Mitchell College,
where he will continue his studies.
